1.    Please state your name, residence

Karl J Branch, Sion Hill St James

2.    What Style of photography do you prefer (Landscape, Portrait, Weddings, Abstract etc),

Weddings, thats mainly the style for which I am known.Wedding photography is definitely my favourite type of photography because you often have little control over the situation and minimum time to work and you do not get the option to reshoot a moment. So wedding photography is 90 % wits, 10 % camera. I also like glamour photography and I mean it in the correct term which is photography which emphasizes the appeal of the woman herself as opposed to the clothes she is wearing (which is fashion photography). People use the terms fashion photography and glamour photography interchangeably so I want to be clear that I like shooting the beauty of women not the beauty of clothes .

That is truly a mouthful !. Let us break this down for photography. Our work flow is the series of steps that we follow during the process of capturing, editing, publishing and archiving an image. Note that I used the term “publishing” rather than printing because there are many options in todays digital world for how an image will be presented to the public. Why is it important to spend some time discussing the photographic workflow ? Well because early in the industrial revolution it was discovered that a consistent well managed and optimised workflow is very important to the quality of the final product. The concepts of the production line , quality circles, the zero defect manufacturing process are all tied to Workflow Management.

Its All About ColourToday’s cameras are marvels of modern electronics, they contain powerful computers which can carry out thousands of calculation in the blink of an eye, surely them must be able to accurately capture the colour in a scene. The difference between the human eye and the sensor of a camera is that  the camera  cant see colour as we do with our eyes. all that it can do is calculate what the colour should be by making use of an internal reference scale.  What then happens when you  display that image of your computer screen, does it use the same reference scale that the camera does? What about your printer is it using the same reference as your camera, and computer screen. Well guess what , if you don’t make sure that they are all on the same scale, then what you  capture and what you print may not look the same..
